Hi, my name is John Walsh, my pronouns are he/they and I am running to be your Gender and LGBTQ+ Rights officer for 2022/23.

If elected to this role, I aim to achieve the following:

  2. Organise pride events in Sult such as drag shows or an open mic night for LGBTQ students.

  3. To continue efforts made by previous students’ union execs to tackle period poverty by making period products available for all students who menstruate in all campus toilets.

  4. Open up the gender-neutral bathrooms on campus which are currently locked.

  5. Ensure LGBTQ+ specific mental health and sexual health services are more readily accessible to students on campus.

    • Making access to PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) easier for MSM students.

  6. Complete Pink training with the USI and apply initiatives from this training on campus.
