Manifesto
A little bit about me!
-
I’m 22 and in my final year of children’s studies.
-
I’m non-binary and omnisexual.
-
I’ve been a part of the LGBT+ community since I was 15.
-
I’ve actively been a part of the student political movement since my first year when I became a class rep, something I have continued to do every year.
-
During secondary school I was also part of Comhairle Na NOg, a youth council which strives to give young people a voice on a variety of topics such as mental health, the lgbt+ community and rural living.
What I hope to achieve!
There is so much I want to do but my main goal is to make the university of galway a safe and inclusive space for all within the spectrum of lgbt+. Here are a few ways I would hope to do this!
-
Provide a class on correct gender terminology and ways to be inclusive in lecture settings to both staff and students, this would include explanations around the difference in gender identity and gender expression, how to respectfully ask for pronouns and then how to use them and information on how to incorporate non-gendered language into the classroom setting.
Events!
There are already some fantastic events held by Brod soc, but I hope to expand and create new events which could reach a wider variety of the fantastic LGBT+ community we have on campus.
