I intend to promote open democratic, acedemic debate by representing the entire student body, taking all diverse viewpoints, arguments and specialised knowledge on board so as to share and discuss them wholeheartedly with the group to the best of my ability. I intend to employ an inclusive, holistic and openminded approach towards the problems of the world today. Coming from a background in Humanities and as a current NUIG alumni member persuing a Professional Master in Education I intend to empower others to consider aspects of certain issues that may have been avoided, forgotten or ignored and create cross curricular dialogues that are mutually benificial and solution based.

A number of Ideas permeating the current zeitgeist motivate me to apply for this position such as the current Anti-Intellectual Ideologies, Political discourse that misguides, misserves and confuses instead of guiding, aiding and adressing citizens questions and problems, privitisation, austerity, corporatism, law and order, Ecology, public forums, Technological innovation, ethics, autonomy, consent, disconnection and isolationism, poverty, wealth inequality, war, corruption, cencorship, freedom of speach, the right to protest and inalienable Human rights.

These issues and topics need discussion and debate now more than ever. They are urgent Humanitarian issues that should not be shyed away from and I hope they gain attention so that evidance, research, plans and solutions can be formulated that benifit all and create a more unified, equal and prosperous society here in Ireland and further afield. Join me in the discussion.

Thanks for reading,

A Cairde,

Earnan MacOireaghtaigh.
